Arteriosclerotic Heart Disease
Normally we have seen our own family members suffering from various heart disorders. One such heart disorder is the Arteriosclerotic Heart Disease, which is again a very deadly disease leading to death. Let us learn about it in detail.
About the disease:
It belongs to the family Coronary Artery Diseases (CAD). It is another very cruel disease of the heart’s blood vessels where the blood vessels get narrowed down due to the accumulation of fatty deposits of cholesterol on the walls of the blood vessels supplying blood to the heart.
When the blood vessels get narrowed down due to the accumulation of fatty deposits, the blood supply is cut down to the heart muscle. So the heart muscle malfunctions and it results in various other severe consequences like Angina, Arrhythmia and Myocardial Infarction.
Causes:
Again it is caused due to the narrowing of the coronary arteries, which are the ones supplying blood to the heart muscle. As the arteries get narrowed down by the fatty deposits, the heart muscle gets low blood and it becomes tired. This in turn causes chest pain in the form of Angina and other problems like Breathlessness and other severe and life threatening diseases. Not only this, the problems are of numerous kinds as the pain due to Angina is sometimes unbearable.
Again women are at lower risk than men as women have their hormones which protect them from all types of heart problems. Also women are equally at risk as they grow older, but whatever it is Men are the more susceptible gender to this disease. This disease is mainly caused due to diabetes, consumption of high cholesterol rich diet, hypertension and other reasons like smoking. Smoking is responsible for almost all the diseases affecting our body and is responsible for this disease as well.
Symptoms:
The symptoms for this disease are the same for almost all cardiac disorders like the typical chest pain caused by the angina which lasts for a time period of 30 minutes or even more. The pain occurs all over the hand and often gives the patient a fear of dying.
Also this pain is not relieved by rest. The other type of pain occurs for a short period of time and can be treated whereas Angina cannot be treated. The person also feel like he is not having a normal breathing process and most sadly the person becomes susceptible to Heart Attack.
Prevention:
As they say “Prevention is better than cure”, it is better we stay away from the disease by changing our lifestyle. These changes first demand not to smoke as it is the gateway to all the heart diseases. Also eating a healthy and a balanced meal is very important. We should make sure that we give no space for laziness as regular exercise is what our body needs to be healthy. Also we should make sure that we do not have diabetes as it is another killer disease by itself.
